Monolist Privacy Policy

Overview
Monolist (“the App”) is a to-do list app for iPhone, iPad and Mac, published by Nestor Studio. This policy explains what the App stores, where it stores it, and what it does not do.
Short version: Monolist collects nothing and transmits nothing to us. Your tasks live on your devices and in your own iCloud account, which we cannot read.
What the App Stores, and Where
| Data | Where it lives | Who can reach it |
|---|---|---|
| Your tasks | On your device with SwiftData, and in your own iCloud private database via CloudKit | You, on the devices signed in to your Apple Account |
| Task notes | Stored with the task they belong to, in the same local and iCloud store | You, on the devices signed in to your Apple Account |
| Reminders | Scheduled as local notifications by iOS or macOS on the device that set them | Your device — no reminder is sent through a server |
| Widget snapshot | A small file in the app group container, so the home screen widget can draw without opening the database | Monolist and its widget, on that device only |
| Review prompt flag | One boolean in UserDefaults, recording that the App Store review prompt was already shown | The app, on that device only |
iCloud Sync
If you are signed in to iCloud and iCloud Drive is enabled, Monolist syncs your tasks between your devices through CloudKit, in your own iCloud private database. That database belongs to your Apple Account. Nestor Studio operates no servers, holds no account for you, and has no access to its contents — Apple's handling of iCloud data is governed by the Apple Privacy Policy.
Turning iCloud off leaves the App fully usable; your tasks simply stay on the device that created them.
Notifications
Reminders are local notifications, scheduled on your device by iOS or macOS. Nothing is pushed from a server, and no reminder text is transmitted anywhere. Monolist asks for notification permission at the moment you switch a reminder on — never on launch — and declining it leaves every other feature working.
Data the App Does NOT Collect
- No personal information (name, email, Apple Account, location)
- No device identifiers (UDID, serial number, advertising identifier)
- No usage analytics, telemetry, or crash reports
- No contacts, calendars, photos, or data from other apps
- No advertising, and no profiling or tracking of any kind
The App makes no network requests of its own. The only traffic it causes is Apple's own iCloud synchronisation, between your devices and your iCloud account.
Third-Party SDKs and Frameworks
Monolist has no third-party dependencies. It is built entirely on Apple system frameworks (SwiftUI, SwiftData, CloudKit, WidgetKit, UserNotifications). There are no analytics SDKs, ad networks or crash reporting libraries embedded in the App.
Deleting Your Data
Deleting a task removes it from the device and from your iCloud private database. Deleting the App removes its local store; the iCloud copy can be removed from Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Account Storage. Because we never receive your data, there is nothing for us to delete on your behalf.
Children's Privacy
Monolist does not collect data from anyone, including children under 13.
