Frequently asked questions
Can I add tasks with Siri?
Yes. Say “Add a task in Monolist” to capture a task by voice. Siri and Shortcuts can add and complete tasks, and open tasks can be found in Spotlight. On iPhone and iPad, you can also add a New Task control to Control Center or the Lock Screen, or assign it to the Action button on supported devices.
Which devices can I use?
Monolist works on iPhone and iPad with iOS or iPadOS 18 or later, and Mac with macOS 15 or later. Home Screen widgets keep your list nearby; Lock Screen widgets and the New Task control are available on iPhone and iPad.
Do I need to create an account?
No Monolist account is needed. Open the app and add a task. To sync between devices, sign in to the same iCloud account and enable iCloud sync. Your tasks stay on your devices and in your own iCloud account.
Can I create more than one list in Monolist?
No, and that is the point. Monolist keeps a single list and sorts it for you into Overdue, Today, Upcoming and Someday based on each task’s date. There are no projects, tags or folders to set up or maintain.
Does Monolist sync between my iPhone, iPad and Mac?
Yes. Monolist syncs through CloudKit using your own iCloud account, so your tasks appear on every device signed in to that account. Nothing is sent to Nestor Studio.
How do reminders work?
Give a task a due time and switch on a reminder. Monolist schedules a local notification 5 minutes, 15 minutes, 1 hour or 1 day before it is due, or at a custom time before it is due. Complete the task or snooze it for 15 minutes directly from the notification. Notification permission is requested at the moment you turn a reminder on, not on launch.
What happens when I complete a repeating task?
It rolls forward to its next occurrence instead of disappearing, so a daily or weekly habit stays on the list. When you are finished with it for good, Finish Series ends it while keeping the rule, so reopening it restores the habit.
